✨JRR Tolkien - The Silmarillion:
Tolkien's Silmarillion describes the First Age of the World - it is therefore an obvious part of the story about the creation of Middle-earth, about its mythology, its earliest history and, last but not least, about the nations that inhabited it in the times preceding the events of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The title of the book is derived from the name of three precious jewels, the Silmarils, which were crafted by the most gifted of the elves, Fëanor. The task of these jewels was to preserve the precious Light of the Two Trees of the blessed realm of Valinor. However, all the Silmarils were seized by Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, and he adorned his iron crown with them in the fortress of Angband. Fëanor and his fellows waged a long war with him to recover the precious jewels. The Quenta Silmarillion (The History of the Silmarillion), the central part of the book set in the First Age, is complemented by the Ainulindalë (The Music of the Ainur), an opening myth dealing with the Creation of the world in the Depths of Time, and the Valaquenta (The Tale of the Valar), an account of the divine powers of the Valar and Maiar and their dark counterparts Sauron and Melkor.
